Cummins Announces New Executive Appointments

Cummins Inc. (Columbus, IN), a designer of electric power generation systems, announced a chain of new appointments as part of a strategic reorganization to promote the company's growth. Cummins CEO Tim Solso reports that the company is restructuring key elements to make it more efficient in executing plans, to propel growth and increase profits.

Joe Loughrey was named President and COO of Cummins after 31 years with the company. He replaces Jim Kelly, who previously served as Vice President and General Manager of Cummins MidRange and heavy-duty engine businesses. Rick Mills was named President of the newly formed Components Group. Rich Freeland is President of the worldwide distribution business, which combines Cummins International and North American distributors under one organization.

Steve Chapman, formerly President of the International Distributor business, was named Group Vice President for emerging markets and businesses. In that role, he will work on expanding the company's growth markets in countries such as China, India and Russia. Cummins Power Generation President Tom Linebarger and CFO Jean Blackwell were named Executive Vice Presidents; they will join other company executives in serving on the executive committee.
