KACO new energy Announces U.S. Manufacturing Partnership with Sanmina-SCI

Power Channels: Renewable Energy

KACO new energy Inc., which describes itself as one of the world’s largest solar inverter manufacturers with over 3 GW of PV inverters in the field to date, announced its U.S. manufacturing partnership with Sanmina-SCI Corporation.

KACO chose Sanmina-SCI to provide end-to-end manufacturing services for its blueplanet™ 02xi inverter series in order to solidify and further develop the company’s position in the U.S. market, with more competitive costs and reduced delivery times. KACO’s first complete line of blueplanet inverters with "made in the United States" nameplates rolled out of Sanmina-SCI’s San Jose, California, facility in spring of 2011.

KACO new energy inverters are one of the best-selling inverters worldwide with more than 3 GW operating today. The popular blueplanet 02xi series is well known for its high performance. 95.5% CEC efficiency ensures maximum kWh production. A wide MPPT range offers highest string sizing flexibility with all modules and temperature ranges. The inverters are designed for maximum ROI with robust state-of-the-art IGBTs and advanced MPPT algorithms. The easyINSTALL T-bracket minimizes mounting process to approximately 15 minutes. KACO new energy has been manufacturing power electronics for more than 60 years.

"As KACO grows in the U.S. market, the company needed to make sure that neither price nor lack of inventory would be a barrier for U.S. distributors," said Vince Lucia, Vice President, Operations, KACO new energy Inc. "Sanmina-SCI gave KACO the U.S. manufacturing footprint, global supply chain, and logistical support needed to meet our cost and delivery objectives."

In order to meet KACO’s objectives, Sanmina-SCI established a dedicated core team for new product introduction (NPI), set up a new, dedicated manufacturing line, performed design for assembly (DFA) analyses, designed custom toolsets, created detailed documentation, and established a new independent global supply chain and logistics support.

Opinion: Bridging the Gap between Off-Grid and Grid-Tied Systems with a Grid-Hybrid Approach

Sanmina-SCI makes some of the most complex and valuable electronic and mechanical products in the world. Sanmina-SCI not only focuses on engineering and fabricating complex components but also on providing complete end-to-end supply chain solutions to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as KACO new energy.

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules

Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.

The Role of Hall Effect Sensors in Power Distribution Infrastructure

Power distribution units (PDUs) form an essential part of modern computing and data communications hardware. They provide multiple outputs for transferring electrical power with maximum efficiency, controlling the power capacity and safeguarding against the possible causes of supply interruption. With an ever increasing need from tech savvy consumers for higher data throughput and greater quantities of data storage capacity, as well as tough international legislation now governing CO&sub2; emissions, the demands being placed on these units are proving challenging for engineering teams to satisfy.
