International Rectifier Debuts New 1200V/600V HVIC Family
International Rectifier Corp. (IR, El Segundo, CA) introduced a new family of high-voltage (IGBT control) integrated circuits (HVICs) with protection functions that are suitable for designing products to drive MOSFETs and IGBTs. Gate drive outputs are designed using a latch-immune CMOS circuit. The technology integrates a low-voltage driver with a high-voltage level shifter for high-side and low-side gate drivers in one monolithic IC. The new series consists of 1,200 V and 600 V gate driver ICs and current-sense interface ICs for a variety of applications, including inverterized motor drives, general-purpose inverter circuits, switch-mode power supplies and uninterruptible power supplies.
There are five 1,200 V gate drivers made with the new HVIC technology. The IR22381 is an analog, three-phase IGBT gate driver, with a deadtime of 0.5 µsec, that also minimizes temperature drift and changes in performance over time. The IR2277 and IR22771 are high-speed, single-phase, current-sense interface ICs with synchronous sampling for motor drive applications. The IR2214 and IR22141 are designed to drive single half-bridge circuits in power switching applications as well as three-phase 380 Vac circuits at up to 50 A at 80 °C.
For appliance motor drives and a wide range of general-purpose inverter circuits, the 1,200 V HVICs are available in 600 V versions. The IR21381 is an analog three-phase driver, similar to the IR22381. The IR2177 and IR21771 are 600 V versions of the IR2277 and IR22771. Rounding out the set, the IR2114 and IR21141 are 600 V versions of the IR2214 and IR22141.
The new motor drive and sensor ICs are available immediately. Pricing in 10,000-unit quantities is $12.05 each for the IR22381Q 1,200 V gate drivers, $3.94 each for the IR2277S and IR22771S (analog output) 1,200 V current-sensing ICs, $4.50 each for the IR2214SS and IR22141SS 1,200 V half-bridge drivers, $10.50 each for the IR21381Q 600 V gate drivers, $2.56 each for the IR2177S and IR21771S (analog output) 600 V current-sensing ICs, and $3.90 each for the IR2114SS and IR21141SS 600 V half-bridge drivers. Prices are subject to change.
