Balqon Consolidates Operations With New California Location
Balqon Corp., a developer and manufacturer of electric vehicle technologies, announced that it has consolidated its R&D, engineering and manufacturing operations to a new location in Santa Ana, California. Through this location the company intends to streamline its product development efforts and reduce time to market on its innovative electric vehicle drive technologies targeted to address high load cargo transportation applications.
"With our Electric Terminal tractor product launch date of September 2007 it was vital for us to consolidate operations into a single facility," said B Samra, Chief Executive Officer, Balqon Corp.. "The new facility provides us capabilities to ramp up production of our current products while providing us additional growth space for our future products to be released in early 2008. Our ability to rapidly develop and implement our innovative technologies into new product configurations will be further enhanced by our investment into this new facility."
Balqon is a developer and manufacturer of electric vehicles used for transportation of cargo in on-highway and off-highway applications. Committed to developing advanced vehicle drive systems, Balqon has developed drives and energy systems to be used in towing and cargo carrying applications worldwide. The company recently received a contract to develop electric terminal tractors capable of transporting 60,000 lb. of cargo load in short haul port and warehouse applications.

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules
Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.

The Role of Hall Effect Sensors in Power Distribution Infrastructure
Power distribution units (PDUs) form an essential part of modern computing and data communications hardware. They provide multiple outputs for transferring electrical power with maximum efficiency, controlling the power capacity and safeguarding against the possible causes of supply interruption. With an ever increasing need from tech savvy consumers for higher data throughput and greater quantities of data storage capacity, as well as tough international legislation now governing CO&sub2; emissions, the demands being placed on these units are proving challenging for engineering teams to satisfy.
