Lineage Power Announces DC Input Front End Power Supplies for OEM Applications
Lineage Power Corp. announced the release of the CAR2548DC and the CAR1212DC dc-input front end power supplies, additions to the company’s popular CAR2548FP/TN and CAR1212FP ac-input products. According to the company, the CAR2548DC offers the highest available power density in the industry at 27W per cubic inch in a 1U form factor.
These new dc-input power entry modules are designed to be deployed alongside existing ac-dc power supplies in datacom and telecom applications. The power supplies are able to receive wide-ranging 48Vdc input power from telecom energy systems or battery-backup equipment, and in turn, provide precise 12 and 48V power out to connected communications, computing and storage equipment. With the addition of the dc-input models, Lineage Power now provides a complete, end-to-end solution for 12 and 48V applications.
"With the CAR2548DC and the CAR1212DC, we are addressing the requirements of our datacom and telecom OEM customers who need high-power, DC-input power supplies to be used in equipment deployed in the access network outside of the traditional central office environment," said Mike Wagner, Vice President and General Manager for Lineage Power’s Embedded OEM division. "The convergence of voice, video, data and wireless is changing the communications landscape. An estimated 80,000 cell sites in the U.S. alone will require upgrades or expansion in the next five years just to keep pace with iPhone subscriber growth. We’re responding with an end-to-end dc-input and ac-input power supply solution specifically geared to address the needs of OEMs selling their equipment into the telecom-equipment and service-provider markets."
As the need for advanced digital services provided on telecom and wireless backbones increases, the datacom and telecom equipment worlds are converging – resulting in provisioning issues due to incompatibilities in the existing power infrastructure. Lineage Power’s lineup of dc-input front end power supplies complements its ac-input offering enabling OEMs to easily mix, match and modify their power environment as their customer needs and product requirements change. These CAR2548DC and CAR1212DC units accept the required dc input voltage needed for applications that are housed in decentralized networks or for environments that are implementing 12V power architectures for new mobile wireless voice and video services.
Given the growing demand for mobile Internet infrastructure, Lineage Power plans to continue to expand its offering of dc-dc front end power supplies to complement its existing ac-dc product line.
The CAR2548DC and CAR1212DC are the latest products introduced under the Lineage Power Total Efficiency™ architecture which provides telecom, central offices, mobile switching centers, cell sites and data centers with comprehensive energy efficient solutions that reduce utility and cooling costs.
The dc input front ends come in a small 1U form factor, allowing them to be installed in the same shelf as their matching ac-input units to reduce space requirements for power supply and distribution infrastructure. Providing 2500W, the CAR2548DC offers the highest available power density on the market, 27W per cubic inch. The unit measures 1.61 by 4 by 14.25 inches, delivers 52A at 48V and has an output voltage range of 43.2 to 56Vdc. The CAR1212DC measures 1.61 by 4 by 11.2 inches, delivers 1200W, 100A at 12V and has an output voltage range of 10.8 to 13.2Vdc. Both front end power supplies are isolated and are fully protected for over voltage, over current and over temperature.
Available immediately, the CAR2548DC is priced at $413 and the CAR1212DC at $257 for OEM quantities.
