Mean Well Introduces 80W High Efficiency LED Power Supply
Mean Well introduced its 80W HLG-80H series of LED power supplies to satisfy middle to low wattage applications. Featuring a 90 – 305Vac wide range ac input, the HLG-80H series is not only fit for a general 115 or 230Vac main input, but also can be operated under a 277Vac input in North America. The HLG-80H has three options (A/B/blank type) in different mechanisms and input/output design for selection. A type is fully potted by heat-dissipating glue, so it can reach the IP 65 waterproof/dustproof level.
Users can adjust the dc output voltage range from 90 to 110% and current range from 60% to 100% by removing the rubber stopper on the cover; B type equips with three in one dimming function (1 – 10Vdc, PWM, resistance). Through additional signal output cable, it offers system designers great flexibility for dimming operation and energy saving design; while Blank type has basic features without voltage and current adjustment function. In addition, In order to fit in with the outdoor harsh environment, full-aluminum case and stainless screws are designed in these new power supplies.
With built-in active PFC function, the HLG-80H comply with harmonic current limitation per EN61000-3-2 Class C (≥60% load). They also fulfill PF≥0.9 if loading over 60% and possess 4KV surge immunity (EN61000-4-5) ability which complies with the requirements of street lighting. With up-to date high efficiency topology, the HLG-80H achieves up to 91% efficiency, so it can be cooled by free air convection from -4 to +70°C ambient temperature (-40°C power on at 230Vac and above) that meets the requirements of outdoor installation. Beside standard functions of protections for short circuit, over voltage, overload, and over temperature, these power units comply with global certificates per UL/CUL/TUV/CB/CE including UL8750, EN61347-1, and EN61347-2-13 of lighting regulations, which can greatly guarantee your safety. Suitable applications include LED street lighting, LED tunnel lighting, outdoor LED electric display, LED decorative lighting, and indoor/outdoor LED lighting. Finally, they are also good solutions for general industrial applications at outdoor environment with high dust and moisture.

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules
Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.

The Role of Hall Effect Sensors in Power Distribution Infrastructure
Power distribution units (PDUs) form an essential part of modern computing and data communications hardware. They provide multiple outputs for transferring electrical power with maximum efficiency, controlling the power capacity and safeguarding against the possible causes of supply interruption. With an ever increasing need from tech savvy consumers for higher data throughput and greater quantities of data storage capacity, as well as tough international legislation now governing CO&sub2; emissions, the demands being placed on these units are proving challenging for engineering teams to satisfy.
