Lambda Adds 800W Power Supply & 2 New Modules to Alpha Series

May 23, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda Electronics Inc. (Melville, NY) has expanded its Alpha Series line of low-cost modular power supplies with the addition of an 800W power supply and two new modules to the product line. The new modules provide an output range of 2.7V to 48V with varying power levels, while the 5V at 85A high power module requires only two slots in the power supply rather than three. The power supplies can utilize any combination of their 15 wide output modules. The Alpha Series features up to seven outputs, each with a wide adjustment range, enabling the power supplies to be configured to meet thousands of requirements, eliminating the need for developing costly custom power supplies, according to Lambda. The series can provide up to 14 outputs by utilizing its available 15 single and dual output modules with ranges of 2.7-3.9V, 4.5-5.5V, 5-15V, 18-28V and 36-48V. The 2.5 x 5 x 11 400W model, the 2.5 x 5 x 12.75 600W and 2.5 x 7 x 11 800W versions all have a 85-265Vac input range and operate at 47-63 Hz. The series meets power factor correction standards set by EN61000-3-2, and also meets Curve B RFI standards and CE Marking, UL1950, CSA234 and EN60950 worldwide safety agency approvals. Pricing for the Alpha Series averages $1.00 per watt when purchased in OEM quantities.
