Binder-USA Announces M12 Connectors for Power with T-Coding

Power Channels: Power Components

Binder-USA introduced the first official line of M12 power connectors with T-coding. The Series 813 connectors use the standard M12 locking thread, but feature a new coding or key to prevent mismating with other M12 versions. Other modifications of the M12 connector have been made in order to increase the maximum rated current, cable and wire size. With these changes the connectors are now even more suitable for power supplies in automation technology.

The T-coded M12 connectors have four gold-plated contacts, which allow a wire cross-section of 1.5 mm² or 16 AWG wire, and can transfer up to 12A at 60Vdc. With these new changes the field-attachable connectors now accept cables between 8 to 10mm in diameter. When fully mated and locked the connectors are IP67 rated ensuring protection from liquids and debris.

Currently the male and female field-attachable connectors are available with a plastic housing and die cast locking ring. The mating panel-mount connectors are made of nickeled die cast zinc, and feature a M20 x 1.5 fixing thread for mounting to a panel.

Other versions of the T-coded M12 power connectors are planned to be released in the coming year. With specific minimum quantities requested by the customer cable assemblies using the new design can be manufactured.

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules

Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.

The Role of Hall Effect Sensors in Power Distribution Infrastructure

Power distribution units (PDUs) form an essential part of modern computing and data communications hardware. They provide multiple outputs for transferring electrical power with maximum efficiency, controlling the power capacity and safeguarding against the possible causes of supply interruption. With an ever increasing need from tech savvy consumers for higher data throughput and greater quantities of data storage capacity, as well as tough international legislation now governing CO&sub2; emissions, the demands being placed on these units are proving challenging for engineering teams to satisfy.
