Delta Electronics Introduces New Board Mounted Industrial DC-DC Converter
Delta Electronics, Inc. has introduced an addition to their board mounted dc-dc power converters – the S24SE/S24DE family, the highest power density (30W) industrial input range 1 x 1" isolated power converter with industry standard pinouts.
The S24SE/S24DE family output has a 4:1 input voltage range (9 to 36V). It provides various single and dual output voltages including +3.3, +5, +12, +15, ±12, and ±15V output. With optimized component placement and innovative design topologies created by Delta's worldwide engineering teams, the S24SE/S24DE converter delivers 30W output power in an industry standard 1 x 1" footprint. Lower output power (20W, 15W, and 10W) modules are also available to meet a variety of customer needs. Typical efficiency is up to 90%.
The S24SE/S24DE comes with a host of industry-standard features, such as over-current protection, over-voltage protection, over-temperature protection and remote on/off. An optional heatsink is available for more extreme thermal requirements.

The S24SE/S24DE can sustain 1600Vdc isolation voltage and it meets UL60950-1 safety requirements. The module is packaged in a metal case (six-side metal shielding), and is potted with thermal potting material. With an operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C, it is suitable for customers’ critical applications such as process control and automation, transportation, data communication and telecom equipment, test equipment, and medical device s and equipment.

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules
Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.

The Role of Hall Effect Sensors in Power Distribution Infrastructure
Power distribution units (PDUs) form an essential part of modern computing and data communications hardware. They provide multiple outputs for transferring electrical power with maximum efficiency, controlling the power capacity and safeguarding against the possible causes of supply interruption. With an ever increasing need from tech savvy consumers for higher data throughput and greater quantities of data storage capacity, as well as tough international legislation now governing CO&sub2; emissions, the demands being placed on these units are proving challenging for engineering teams to satisfy.
