Visible Energy Announces "Monostrip" WiFi-enabled Smart Outlet

Visible Energy has introduced the "Monostrip," a Wi-Fi enabled, two-socket smart electrical outlet that can be controlled using an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and over the Internet through Visible Energy's own cloud-based energy management platform. The Monostrip connects to the Wi-Fi home network and provides real-time power monitoring, as well as on/off switching and timer control.

The EnergyUFO iOS application displays energy usage and provides remote control and programming capabilities. The application is available for Apple's iPad, iPhone and iPod touch and the Visible Energy Web Dashboard provides access with a modern browser and over the Internet. Secure use of the product over the Internet and remote energy data collection is free of charge for the first year and $4-annually thereafter.

"We are pleased to provide an exciting energy management product at a cost point that is suitable for the mass market" said Marco Graziano, Visible Energy co-founder and CEO. "Our development effort is paying off and being able to create our own management cloud infrastructure and mobile applications is the key to providing an affordable product that really helps to conserve energy and create awareness."

Graziano, a Silicon Valley veteran CEO and entrepreneur, started Visible Energy to help consumers save energy as easily as possible, "Electricity conservation is not an easy objective to achieve even for the motivated individual. Our goal is to use technology to make products that have immediate benefits and that stimulate and measure the results of virtuous, Earth-friendly behavior in the long-term."

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules

Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.

The Role of Hall Effect Sensors in Power Distribution Infrastructure

Power distribution units (PDUs) form an essential part of modern computing and data communications hardware. They provide multiple outputs for transferring electrical power with maximum efficiency, controlling the power capacity and safeguarding against the possible causes of supply interruption. With an ever increasing need from tech savvy consumers for higher data throughput and greater quantities of data storage capacity, as well as tough international legislation now governing CO&sub2; emissions, the demands being placed on these units are proving challenging for engineering teams to satisfy.
