Amantys Recognised for Second Year Running in Global Cleantech 100
Amantys announced that for the second consecutive year it has been honoured in the Global Cleantech 100, a global ranking in association with The Guardian, recognising the most innovative and promising ideas from the cleantech industry. The company, backed by Moonray Investors and ARM, has gone from strength to strength over the past two years, and now offers an extensive Power Drive product family (3.3kV, 1.7kV & 1.2kV) in addition to developing what it calls a revolutionary new platform, the Amantys Power Insight™, delivering real-time power switch performance metrics through the existing control interface. According to the company, Power Insight is redefining the landscape of power electronics, deploying ARM processors to deliver more effective, reliable power switching systems.

The Global Cleantech 100 list is unique in the sector because it highlights the promise of private clean technology companies from all around the world, focusing on those companies tipped by the biggest players in the market as the most likely to make a significant impact over the next 5 to 10 years.
"We are delighted that Amantys has been selected as part of the Global Cleantech 100 for the second year running, endorsing our view that its cutting edge power switching products deliver energy efficiency at each stage of power generation, transmission and consumption," commented Nicky McCabe, COO at Moonray Investors.

The list is derived from Cleantech Group's own data and research combined with the weighted qualitative judgments of hundreds of nominations and the viewpoints of a global panel of 75 cleantech experts. To qualify for the list, companies must be independent, for-profit cleantech companies that are not listed on any major stock exchange.
"The Global Cleantech 100 is a natural extension of our companywide mission to help corporations, investors and financiers, professional service firms and governmental agencies connect with global cleantech innovation," said Sheeraz Haji, Cleantech Group CEO. "This report celebrates the best in innovation and is the industry standard on gauging where cleantech innovation is headed next."
Opinion: Maximising Synergies between Power Electronics and ICT for improving Energy Efficiency
Bryn Parry, CEO of Amantys comments, "For a new company to be recognised in 2011 by the Cleantech 100, we felt a real achievement for the work we had already completed. Now, in 2012, Amantys has taken the innovation a step further, delivering vital data from the heart of power switching onto the web, a tangible demonstration of machine-to-machine communication over the 'Internet of Things'. Our inclusion for a second year is really a huge compliment, and further boosts our confidence in the strides we've made. From being part of the top 100 last year, we had a number of people contact us directly as a result. To have such a tangible result is invaluable for any business."

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules
Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.

The Role of Hall Effect Sensors in Power Distribution Infrastructure
Power distribution units (PDUs) form an essential part of modern computing and data communications hardware. They provide multiple outputs for transferring electrical power with maximum efficiency, controlling the power capacity and safeguarding against the possible causes of supply interruption. With an ever increasing need from tech savvy consumers for higher data throughput and greater quantities of data storage capacity, as well as tough international legislation now governing CO&sub2; emissions, the demands being placed on these units are proving challenging for engineering teams to satisfy.
