SL Power's New Medical-Grade High-Efficiency Triple Output 110 Watt Power Supply Saves Costs and Reduces Cooling
SL Power Electronics, a division of SL Industries, announces the addition of the triple output MINT3110 to its high density, open frame AC/DC medical-grade power supply family. The MINT3110 family is ideal for medical applications in surgical and laboratory instruments requiring low leakage, multiple outputs and small footprint.
Surpassing the strict requirements of IEC 60601-1 3rd edition, the MINT3110 models feature:
* Power: 110W with forced air and 80W convection cooled
* Form factor: 2" x 4" x 1.3", ideal for 1U height and space constrained applications
* Universal Input: 90 - 264 VAC
* Outputs: 5/±12V, 5/±15V, 5/±24 V
* Control signals: PF/DC OK
* Lowest earth leakage current at 200µ amps in the market
* Class B Radiated EMI
* 2 MOPP (means of patient protection) safety
* Class I and Class II configurations
The triple output power capabilities eliminate cross talk and provide tightly regulated DC power in a variety of configurations that save user's costs by eliminating the need for numerous DC/DC converters. All three outputs are tightly regulated.
"Our customers rely on SL Power to deliver the the highest level of power performance and reliability," said Greg Harris, executive vice president of sales for SL Power. "Now, customers can reap the benefits of our new MINT3110 triple-output power supply that features high density, energy efficiency and a small footprint at a very affordable cost. Our customers have tested the MINT3110 and have found it runs much cooler than competitive units and is nearly half the size."
Available now through SL Power's extensive distribution sales channels, OEM pricing starts at $85 each for 500 piece orders. In addition, the MINT3110 will be on display during Electronica 2012 in Munich, November 13 - 16 in Hall B2, Stand #609.

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules
Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.

The Role of Hall Effect Sensors in Power Distribution Infrastructure
Power distribution units (PDUs) form an essential part of modern computing and data communications hardware. They provide multiple outputs for transferring electrical power with maximum efficiency, controlling the power capacity and safeguarding against the possible causes of supply interruption. With an ever increasing need from tech savvy consumers for higher data throughput and greater quantities of data storage capacity, as well as tough international legislation now governing CO&sub2; emissions, the demands being placed on these units are proving challenging for engineering teams to satisfy.
