DC-DC Converters with RCC Topology Provide Cost-Effective Solutions for Digital Applications

Designed as a cost effective-solution for digital applications, Aimtec has released 13 new series of dc-dc converters 3 to 6 W power ranges. Distinguished by the letter V in their suffix, the new line of DIP24 packaged devices feature RCC (Ringing Choke Converter) topology with variable switching frequencies versus PWM (Pulse Wave Modulation) topology as with fixed switching frequency found in Aimtec's other DIP24 products.

Input voltage choices range from 4.5 to 72 Vdc with a ratio of either 2:1 or 4:1. Single or dual output voltage choices range from 3.3 to 24 Vdc with input / output isolation of either 1.5K or 3.5K Vdc. All models feature continuous short circuit protection and an effective operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C with derating with efficiency rates as high as 82%.

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules

Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.
