TE Launches 1.9mm-High, Low-Profile Battery Connector for Mobile Devices

TE Connectivity today launched a new low-profile battery connector with a height of 1.9mm for mobile devices. With increasing global demand for high-performing, cost-effective and slimmer mobile devices, TE designed the low-profile battery connector to optimize reliability and durability while addressing industry needs.

"Engineering a new solution for mobile battery interconnection really challenged our product development team to think out-of-the-box and with the end consumer in mind,” said Masaki Shoji, product manager, TE Consumer Devices. “We focused on developing a mobile battery connector with a low-profile design that has flexibility – meaning, it can adapt to individualized customer designs – as well as ensuring a reliable connection and a competitive production cost.”

Key features and benefits of the low-profile battery connector include: Decreased production cost by reducing to a singular component; Improved design efficiencies and low-profile height of 1.9mm for thinner and sleeker end-products; Enhanced electrical reliability against external disturbances, such as vibration, extreme temperatures or shock; Increased durability and lifespan – sustained 5,000 cycles in a durability test without any damage to the contact.

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules

Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.

The Role of Hall Effect Sensors in Power Distribution Infrastructure

Power distribution units (PDUs) form an essential part of modern computing and data communications hardware. They provide multiple outputs for transferring electrical power with maximum efficiency, controlling the power capacity and safeguarding against the possible causes of supply interruption. With an ever increasing need from tech savvy consumers for higher data throughput and greater quantities of data storage capacity, as well as tough international legislation now governing CO&sub2; emissions, the demands being placed on these units are proving challenging for engineering teams to satisfy.
