Waterproof PoE Midspan Delivers 33.6W up to 200 Meters and Features SNMP Protocol

Phihong USA has developed a new single-output midspan that can power IEEE802.3at compliant applications up to 200 meters (660 feet) from a network switch. The waterproof injector, designated the POE33S-1AT-N, has an output of 33.6W at 56Vdc and is ideal for applications in harsh environments, including IP cameras and wireless access points. The midspan is also equipped with SNMP protocol, which allows users to remotely troubleshoot end devices.

“The benefit of waterproof PoE is that users can install them in locations that are difficult to reach and service,” said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing for Phihong USA. “By combining the benefits of our extender technology with SNMP, users can enhance their security networks by placing powered devices in remote locations and comfortably troubleshoot from an administrator’s desk.”

Phihong’s new power injector supports 10/100/1000 Base-T data rates and is managed by SNMPv2c protocol. The device features a minimum average efficiency of 73% and bears safety markings for CE and UL. Standard features include over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit protections. Rated IP67 for waterproof operation, the unit can be safely operated in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 60°C.

The three ports on the front of the device connect to standard ¾” NPT conduit piping. Phihong also offers cable glands for one (PGLAND750) or two (PGLAND750-2) cables to ensure watertight operation. When using outdoor midspans, AC and Ethernet cables must be rated to the appropriate electrical codes for the intended environment.

Installed in the included mounting bracket the new injector measures 300mm (11.81”) x 184mm (7.24”) x 82mm (3.23”) and weighs 2.8Kg (6.24lbs). Pricing for the device starts at $349.12 per unit.

Energy Efficiency with Class D Amplifier Modules

Class-D switching amplifiers are helping audio designers create personal multimedia devices and home audio/visual systems that demonstrate how compact and stylish equipment can also deliver high sound quality and high audio output power. The key to this breakthrough, providing freedom from the large and bulky boxes housing traditional audio products, lies in the class-D amplifier’s high energy efficiency, which is typically around 90%. This allows designers to reduce or eliminate heatsinks as well as using smaller-sized PCBs and smaller components such as transformers, connectors and power supplies.

The Role of Hall Effect Sensors in Power Distribution Infrastructure

Power distribution units (PDUs) form an essential part of modern computing and data communications hardware. They provide multiple outputs for transferring electrical power with maximum efficiency, controlling the power capacity and safeguarding against the possible causes of supply interruption. With an ever increasing need from tech savvy consumers for higher data throughput and greater quantities of data storage capacity, as well as tough international legislation now governing CO&sub2; emissions, the demands being placed on these units are proving challenging for engineering teams to satisfy.
