February 11, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Microsemi Corp. (Irvine, CA) announced that its recently acquired NES Division has introduced six new NPN power silicon transistor series for military and aerospace applications. The six introductions include the 2N6546 and 2N6547/525 Series; the 2N6249, 2N6250 and 2N6251/510 Series; the 2N6674, 2N6675, 2N6689 and 2N6690/537 Series; the 2N6306 and 2N6308/498 Series; the 2N3902 and 2N5157/371 Series; and the 2N3846 and 2N3847/412 Series.

The 2N6546 and 2N6547/525 Series are designed for high-voltage, high-speed power switching applications, including switching regulators and power supplies, inverters and motor controls, solenoids, and relay drivers. Packaged in the TO-3 (TO204AA) package, they are JAN, JANTX and JANTXV qualified. The 2N6249, 2N6250 and 2N6251/510 Series are suitable for high-voltage inverters, switching regulators and power supplies, and line operated amplifiers. Packaged in the TO-3 (TO204AA) package, they are JAN, JANTX, JANTXV and JANHC qualified.

The 2N6674, 2N6675, 2N6689 and 2N6690/537 Series are suitable for high-voltage switching of off-line power supplies, converter circuits and pulse-width-modulated (PWM) regulators. Packaged in a choice of the TO-3 (TO204AA) or TO-61 packages, they are JAN, JANTX and JANTXV qualified. The 2N6306 and 2N6308/498 Series are suitable for switching power supplies, high-voltage inverters and line amplifiers. Packaged in the TO-3 (TO204AA) package, they are JAN, JANTX and JANTXV qualified.

The 2N3902 and 2N5157/371 Series are designed for high-voltage inverters, converters, switching regulators and line amplifiers. Packaged in the TO-3 (TO204AA) package, they are JAN and JANTX qualified. The 2N3846 and 2N3847/412 Series for high-voltage power switching in inductive circuits, particularly switch-mode applications, are packaged in a rugged TO-63 heatsink mount package, and are JAN, JANTX and JANTXV qualified.
