Absopulse Electronics Presents PFC4500 Power Supply

February 25, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics (Carp, ON) announced its new PFC4500 telecom-quality, modular power supply with power-factor-corrected input, delivering 93A at 48V over 0 to +50 degrees C in continuous duty (i.e., 4.5kW or 3kW with N+1 redundancy) from a universal ac input.

The PFC4500 features three hot-pluggable internal modules (each 5in x 5in x 14in) that provide 31A each, and have built-in redundancy diodes, a feature that makes the unit suitable for battery-charging applications. Electrical specifications include a combined line/load regulation of ±1 percent, output ripple and noise better than 350mV peak-to-peak, and an efficiency of 80 percent minimum at full load (specs apply to individual plug-in modules).

Options include customizing of output voltages to 125Vdc, an extended operating temperature, battery temperature compensation, and ruggedizing for harsh environments and various alarms. The PFC4500 is priced at $3,665 each in quantities of one to four.
