April 23, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Microsemi Corp. (Santa Ana, CA) has introduced a new silicon-carbide Schottky diode (UPSC148) to their line of silicon mixed-signal and discrete products. The diode is available in the company's 1mm Powermite package, and is a 1A, 480V silicon-carbide Schottky targeted at high-speed switching and power-supply applications in telecommunications and implantable medical equipment. Silicon carbide is commonly used in short wavelength optoelectronics such as blue LEDs.
