EOS Announces New VLT80 Series Power Supplies

April 02, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

EOS Corp. (Camarillo, CA) announced the VLT80 Series of single- and quad-output, open-frame, switching-power supplies, the latest addition to its popular V Series family. Designed for use in a wide variety of electronic products, including computing, data networking, and telecommunications equipment, EOS claims the power supplies set a new industry standard as the smallest and most efficient in their class.

The extremely small size and high efficiency of the new EOS VLT80 Series is designed to allow engineers increased flexibility in their product designs, save product-development costs, improve system reliability and eliminate high levels of heat generated by competing power systems.

The EOS VLT80 80W power supply comes in four single-output versions: the VLT80-1000 is rated at 5V and 12A, the VLT80-1001 at 12V and 6.5A, the VLT80-1002 at 15V and 5.5A, and the VLT80-1003 at 24V and 3.5A. There are also five quad-output versions, including a 3.3V model at 10A. The VLT80 products weigh ten ounces. The VLT80 family of single- and quad-output products is enclosed in a small 3" x 5" x 1" package with densities exceeding 5.3W per inch cubed. The product family converts ac power to dc power at an efficiency rating of greater than 86 percent.

The VLT80 product family is available with eight to 10week lead times. The quad-output models sell in quantities of 100 starting at $77 each, and the single-output versions sell at $61 each.
